Medicare Insurance: Some Useful Information

For all those of you who do not know what Medicare insurance is all about,  here is a sneak peek into the must know information about the same.

Medicare is a healthcare program that is funded by the US federal government for all those citizens of US who are aged 65 years and above.  Even the disabled people are eligible for getting this Medicare insurance coverage.

There are different types of Medicare insurance plans that are offered to people.  Though there is comprehensive coverage offered under this, there is not coverage for everything.  There are a few gaps here and there and that is the basic reason why we have the Medicare supplement insurance plans offered by the private health insurance companies.  The various plans offer coverage for hospital care, medical care and prescription drugs.

There are various parts in this insurance plan.  Here is a look at what the various parts bring in along with them:

Part A Medicare:  This offers hospital insurance coverage.  Inpatient hospital care, hospice care and skilled nursing care facilities are covered under this.  The entire amount of the hospital bill is not covered and the person has to pay a deductible.

Part B Medicare:  This plan offers coverage for non hospital medical expenses and they include blood tests, doctor’s visits, outpatient hospital care and X-rays.  Here too, you will have to pay a small deductible before the benefits actually begin to pour in.

Part C Medicare:  This is private insurance and is called the Medicare Advantage plan.  But, if you have to avail this insurance, you will need to be in possession of the Part A and Part B of Medicare.  Here too, there may be deductibles but the plan may offer coverage for a whole lot of items that have not been covered under the Original Medicare.

Part D Medicare:  This plan offers coverage for prescription drugs and is optional as the person will have to pay a totally separate monthly fee.  The costs of this plan may comprise of the copayment amount, coinsurance amount and also a deductible.

Medicare supplement insurance cost:  The cost of these plans keep changing every year and also vary greatly based upon the location.  However, there is one thing in common; those plans which come in with a wide range of services definitely are the most expensive ones.
